Maliping Chinese Courses
马立平中文课程

Tailored specifically for students using Chinese as a heritage language, our Maliping Chinese Courses draw inspiration from the renowned educator Ma Liping. This program seamlessly integrates linguistic expertise with cultural insights, offering a unique and enriching learning experience for heritage language learners. Explore the beauty of Mandarin Chinese within the context of your cultural heritage through these engaging and thoughtfully crafted courses. Our Maliping Chinese Courses include eight different grades, from MLP-1 to MLP-8.

Designed for learners with little or no Chinese language background, our CSL program offers separate classes for children and adults, providing a structured and engaging pathway to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Foster a love for language and culture from an early age with our Preschool Chinese Courses. Designed for our youngest learners, these classes incorporate play-based activities, songs, and stories to make language acquisition a joyful and interactive experience. Our dedicated instructors nurture curiosity and lay the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of Chinese language and culture.

Cultural enrichment clubs and activities are available for students enrolled in language programs, with offerings varying by semester.

Pre-MathCounts, MathCounts, Speech & Debate, and Sparkle and Twirl Kids Dance must be registered through the NCC registration system.
All other clubs may be registered in person on the first day of school or by contacting the club instructor directly.

Pre-MathCount
Middle school students can prepare for the National Mathcounts Competition, which is focused on creative mathematical problem solving. Learn math concepts and gain creative problem-solving experience useful in Mathcounts and beyond. For grades 5 through 6. Prerequisite: pre-Algebra or equivalent math level. Focus on building a foundation of problem-solving skills for the next level of Mathcounts class.

Speech & Debate
For seasoned debaters, grades 4 and up. Learn various public speaking skills in speech and debate. In fall, explore the various types of public speaking events, like declamation, humorous interpretation, dramatic interpretation, and extemporaneous speaking. Study different debate forms; Lincoln Douglass and Public Forum Debates. Present one type of public speech either in English or Chinese. In spring, move more into the Chinese Debate form to prepare for the HXSC tournament in April. Utilize your public speaking skills in your Chinese debates.

Sprakle and Twirl Kids Dance
Use the medium of dance to ignite your passion for the arts while cultivating your physical coordination, sense of rhythm, and graceful posture. Learn the fundamentals of ballet and Chinese Classical Dance, and practice dance sequences to prepare for the talent showcase. Our focus is to create a place where every child finds their rhythm. No prior experience is necessary. For ages 6-10.
